How Our Misogynistic Culture Rolls

June 14, 2007
The misogyny in our culture is so overwhelming at times, it appears almost undefeatable.

If I have this right, there is an outcry wanting Genarlow Wilson not to serve his time, but a demand for Paris Hilton to serve her time. Paris Hilton is a woman and she has the nerve to be rich and act like a rich white man, both qualifiers for necessary discourse regarding classism in America, but more importantly in this case, a pop cultural illustration highlighting how sympathy sways in favor of males regardless of the violated -ism. For the record, Hilton should do her time, so should Wilson. Better luck next time I say. If the system is so bad maybe people will work together to change it before ten kids get killed at the stoplight, instead of after.

Genarlow Wilson raped a seventeen-year-old girl at a party. It was video taped, she appeared to be very sleepy to the point of semi-consciousness and drunk. The next morning, when she was no longer drunk, she reported the rape. He was not the only boy/man who raped her. Wilson claims because his rape victim did not say no he did not rape her because he understands no to mean no. However, he and the jury apparently (they acquitted him of that rape) have the mindset that the lack of a verbal no defaults to a yes please go ahead and rape me. Therefore, the message is men can rape a female regardless of what physical state she is in and it is consensual because she did not say no. Forget about being unable to say yes, minor technicality.

Perhaps I can jump on the capitalist opportunistic bandwagon and make a vaginal voice chip that bellows out a series of NO NO NO NO! whenever penetration begins, rigged of course with a code that only a truly consenting female can deactivate.

Then there is the talk about how Wilson was railroaded for getting ten years for having oral sex with a “consenting” fifteen-year-old, incidentally at the same party. A real sexfest. I wonder which came first, the oral rape of the fifteen-year-old, or the rape of the seventeen-year-old. Adolescent boys’ need to rape seem so insatiable these days that just one in a night is simply not enough. I put the word “consenting” in quotation marks, because, the age of consent in Georgia is 16 as specified by Section 16.6.3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. In other words, the 15 year old who supposedly consented to sucking several boys’ dicks could not have in fact legally consented. Wilson was the legal one, thus the one held accountable for the act.

It is said that Wilson was flabbergasted with denial when he was charged because in his opinion no rapes occurred at the party he intended. You see, drunken passed out girls are simply on the menu for the taking thereby not recognizable as rape victims. Rape victims only come in the form of the discarded dumpster fodder in Law and Order SVU episodes, not drunken girls at teen parties.

If this had been a female charged with having sex with an underaged “consenting” male, i.e. unable to legally consent, the misogynistic mob would cry that the book needs to be thrown at her. That little raping perverted vixen, how dare she corrupt my son! Wink wink, way to go Johnny said his father outside of the courtroom, in his big intrusive SUV, before driving through McDonalds for an Angus bacon cheeseburger. Yet this boy’s life has been ruined. Because a male’s life is more valuable than a female’s life. Including the life of a black male when misogyny is in play. White men can jump in with support when women are getting the raw end of the deal. When men’s rights to rape and suffer as little as possible is at stake. Perhaps next time Wilson’s family and friends will learn and teach the true meaning of the word rape, or better yet, maybe he should have kept his dick in his pants until everyone was sober, of age, and had dated for a while, to the point that consent or no consent would not be the question.

All of them should have been charged for underage drinking, every one of them. Why aren’t the people who are wailing about the hypothetical damage Hilton’s drunk driving could have caused, are not wailing about the possible damage the drunk driving these teens could have caused? Is it only drunk driving when the police stops someone? Am I to believe no one at that party drove home drunk?

What is amazing is the selective way in which a group protests a law. How many sex offenders have gotten away with crimes against women and girls because the law changed after the crime was committed? Where were all the protesters, including Shakedown Sharpton when it came to seeking justice for the victims of Kenneth Glen Hinson? No biggie I guess, it was just two teenage girls raped, imprisoned, and left to die. Not a peep from the collective. No, that job is left for the feminists because the victims were female. However, in the case of a male, everyone (including many women, who have more than likely been victims themselves) jumps on board to save this poor wittle rapist by victimizing him!

As far as racism. Do I think racism plays a major role in who the police harass and charge most of the time? Yes, by all means. Nevertheless, come back when the protests are against that daily racism, –police stopping minorities for simply being minorities, blocking the minority vote, employers discriminating against minorities at work and school, against the horrendous scraps thrown at minority schools, thus churning out students unprepared for college, etc. There are butt loads of examples on the daily of racism that people can protest, but forget about my support when the collective female is sacrificed, when what happens to a female at the hand of males is trivialized and erased. Save the violins.

Not actually true from my experience…this isn’t any better but the general comments I have overheard when you see these 35 y/o female teachers getting caught having sex with 15 year old boys go something like, “Where were these teachers when I was that age?”

    Still mysogynistic though.

Yeah that is what I was getting at with this line:

Wink wink, way to go Johnny said his father outside of the courtroom, in his big intrusive SUV, before driving through McDonalds for an Angus bacon cheeseburger.

    Children are children….

well, stated, Kitty. i do believe Genarlow Wilson’s 10 year sentence was a bit harsh, but in light of your argument (having sex with a drunk, semi-conscious 17-year-old and the oral sex with the 15-year-old), it gives one pause when one re-considers the sentence.

thanks for dropping by my site and commenting on my article. take care.

This actually may be what is needed!
