Every Last One of Them:

September 30, 2009

Can die a long and miserable death.

And of course, as the latest CNN article has proven, the men on that list will not be remembered. It will be the women who are remembered as being supporters of a rapist. Note, what names the CNN article focuses on:

…a number of performers — including Penelope Cruz, Tilda Swinton and Monica Bellucci — appear as supporters on a petition…

Then they went to Whoppi Goldberg and highlighted her rape apologist statements.

See, they don’t care what people outside of their business think of them, because, we are not the ones who pay them, and, more than likely will never penalized them by not indulging in their work. But I will try as I might to remember every name on the list and avoid giving my money to their work.

What really gets me is when the media plays up the fact that Polanski’s victim has said “True as they may be, the continued publication of those details causes harm to me, my beloved husband, my three children and my mother,” like having him serve his sentence would be doing a disservice to the woman he raped. That he should be let go for HER.

Of course she wants it to go away! Of course she doesn’t want to hear her name on the news anymore! Is that how it works now? If you can’t deal with the invasive media attention that comes along with being raped by a famous person, it’s probably better to just forget the whole thing ever happened…

I suspect the victim is getting enormous pressure from everyone, from her mother to her attorneys to discourage attention. I think there was a civil suit, and if it is like similar civil suits brought against high profile people, there was probably a clause (or a loose wording at a minimum) that threatened retaliation if she speaks up (again). Nevertheless, it is my understanding that he pleaded guilty already and a deal was made. So there should not be a trial, just him bringing his ass back and doing his time. Fucking child rapists, —and all of his apologists, because apologizing is just a stone thrown away from partaking in an actual crime.

Also the chances that she was the last or only child he raped are zero. I’d like to start a petition where people can sign on to the declaration that everybody who signs that other petition is co-signing every single child rape that Polanski committed since the one that’s getting all the media attention right now, as well as okay-ing child rape in general. They are not signing a leave-the-poor-old-dude-alone petition. They are signing a let-the-child-rapist-keep-raping-until-he-croaks petition. I don’t know who I’m angrier at anymore.

Yes, not one mention of Scorsese or Bernal or Gavras. Nope. Now I am doubly fuming.

Yeah, but, see, they consider kiddy-porn “art”.
