East Windsor, Connecticut Police Need To Get Off Christy Quail’s Tit

August 7, 2010

How pathetic can you get? Omar Thornton goes on a shooting rampage at a Hartford Distributors killing eight men and himself, and what happens; the police go on a witch-hunt. You see, there was not enough time for a white male patriarchal induced catharsis (a black man got away with killing white men before white men could retaliate in kind) so East Windsor’s finest, along with ghastly media savages, sensationalized an alleged petty crime in order to quench the thirst of outraged white men (and their people), at the expense of a woman, naturally.

Do I think Omar Thornton killed those eight people at Hartford Distributors? Yes. Do I think he was ever racially harassed? Yes. Do I think people deserved to die because he was racially harassed? No. To me, I think Omar Thornton was an idiot with little to no coping skills. He did not know how to balance racism with his everyday life. Not that he or anyone else should have to, nevertheless, he didn’t know how. He did not know how to persevere in the wake of an injustice and maintain his integrity (Teaching and practicing double consciousness seems to be out of style in our post-racial world). To compensate, he resorted to theft.

Filing grievances not only takes courage, but fortitude. A level of fortitude that I think the average American does not possess. Make no mistake, the grievance process is mind numbing, confusing, and unsatisfying for a reason. In most cases, one doesn’t even have the guidance and support to get to the point of actually filing. The grievance process is orchestrated in order to discourage people from filing, from even asking questions about filing. A simple question can land a person in hot water. An employer is not going to make it easy for you to make them make your work environment friendlier if it benefits them to make you miserable. I know personally. I filed a sexual harassment grievance in my lifetime that went on for a very long time and even though almost everyone involved will assert that I was the victor, I can tell you now it left me emotionally drained, professionally paralyzed, feeling defeated and to this day wishing that I had never filed. To say it is a fucking nightmare is an understatement.

Most grievance processes play out about the same whether a person has overwhelmingly substantial or less than substantial evidence supporting his or her claim. I personally know of a racial discrimination case filed over two years ago. A white employee called his black supervisor a nigger to other employees, –black, white, and Latino. Those employees complained. Statements were given. People were interviewed. The employee came back and ranted again even after he learned that his fellow employees reported him. More statements were made. This happened at a place with a written policy of zero tolerance for racism. What happened during the process? The white employee said the problem was that the black supervisor had it out for him; therefore he felt justified in calling him a nigger. So, EEO, the union, and everyone else had to investigate if the black supervisor had it out for his white subordinate. Time cards were combed over to see who was allotted overtime. Training roosters were broken down to determine who received what training. Nothing demonstrated a bias against the white employee. Actually on the contrary. More white employees received bonuses and positions of leadership than employees of color based on the ratio of white to non-white employees. However, in the end, it was only after the black supervisor threatened to file a grievance himself because all the paperwork that was demanded of him to accommodate the white employee’s claim was preventing him from doing his day-to-day job, was the white employee fired.

Nonetheless, all of the above is a digression. What I have a problem with here and now is how Christy Quail was arrested and filmed. So what, she accepted some beer from a man who stole it from his company. How is she to be held accountable for what he did? As far as she knew, the beer could have fallen off a truck somewhere. What does she have to do with how Omar Thornton killed those eight employees? Since hate cannot be spew on Omar Thornton, since he is dead, Christy Quail is being used as his surrogate. She will get death threats and will probably become unemployable after this little stunt. The police and the media don’t give a fuck about that. They have vampires out for blood to satisfy. “She should have known she was taking beer from a killer. It is her fault now that she is being tarred and feathered!”

Fucking assholes.

I don’t mean this to go off on a whole new direction but all discussions of American culture intrigue me to no end… “A level of fortitude that I think the average American does not possess. ”

    Why not?

This whole situation sounds pathetic though.
“You see, there was not enough time for a white male patriarchal induced catharsis.” Yes.

It sounds just like 9/11 (stop laughing!) when we had to invade a whole region to get back the good ol’ Amurkan manhood.

Them going after her is yet another example of how people are expected to be psychic about ‘the law.’ It doesn’t matter if you know you were committing a crime or not, etc.

I don’t think it really matters if Quail knew she was breaking the law or not. She is clearly being used as a scapegoat, as a means to ease some pain. This woman’s name will be forever associated with a murderer as if she planned and carried out the murders herself. I bet any amount of money this woman has already had a death threat.

      Oh I don’t doubt it.

The media just have to keep it going, don’t they?, no matter what horrible things get done to the woman they’re trashing. Sexist scum.
